Amish Style Barbecue Pork Chops By Pig on a Spit - Apr 29, 2008 |

|
Very simple Amish recipe for making barbecue pork chops.
The Amish are an Anabaptist Christian denomination, formed in 1693 by Swiss Mennonites led by Jacob Amman. They live in the United States and Canada and are divided into several major groups. The Old Order Amish use horses for farming and transportation, dress in a traditional manner, and forbid electricity or telephones in the home.
Food preferences among the Amish vary somewhat from state to state. Breakfast fare for many families includes eggs, fried potatoes and toast. Puddings and scrapple are also breakfast favorites. The puddings consist of ground liver, heart, and kidneys from pork and beef. These basic ingredients are also combined with flour and corn meal to produce scrapple.
Ingredients:
8 pork chops
1 c. ketchup
1 can celery soup
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 or 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce.
Cooking Directions:
Mix the ketchup, celery soup, chopped onion and Worcestershire sauce together and pour over the pork chops in a buttered casserole dish.
Bake at 275 degrees for 2 hours.
