Gravy and Sauces that go with Pork

Apple sauce Apart from apple sauce there are a number of gravies and sauces that go well with pork meals. Our recipes below concentrate on gravy and sauce making for pork dishes.

Apple sauce or applesauce - A purée made from stewed and mashed apples. It can use peeled or unpeeled apples and a variety of spices or additives such as cinnamon.

Gravy - A sauce that is often made from the juices that run naturally from meat or vegetables during the cooking stage.

Redeye gravy - Gravy made from the drippings of ham that is fried in a frying pan. The frying pan is deglazed with coffee or water, sometimes a small amount of sugar is added as well. Redeye gravy is a staple of Southern United States cooking and is usually served over ham, grits or biscuits.

Condiments - A prepared edible substance often preserved or fermented, that is added in variable quantities to make food tastier. Many are preserved sauces that have been put into a bottle, jar, or other container.
